Strolling at the speed of light
The Solar System to scale !
Mars, Venus and Jupiter are names that we all know but at what size and distance to us these planets are they? It is really difficult to imagine. To help people to learn their place in the solar system, it have been recreate to scale at La Malbaie, Québec, Canada.
The great Fairmont le Manoir Richelieu, with is path of 3 km on the coast of the St-Laurent river, is the home of this solar system, 1 500 000 000 times smaller than the real. The walk begin with the sun, situated between the Manoir and the Casino. Every planet have an information pannel, dispose at specific distance from the sun in the path.
This exposition, unique in Canada, is permanent and free. However, at a cost of 10$ per adult, it is possible to do it with a guide at 3 P.M. to learn much more about the universe in general. This activity is possible because of the collaboration of the Centre d'études collégiales en Charlevoix , the Fairmont le Manoir Richelieu and the Casino de Charlevoix .
